ESB ESOP Board

The ESB ESOP is managed and administered by the Trustee, ESB ESOP Trustee Limited. The Trustee has a duty to act fairly and in the best interests of participants.

Decisions of the ESOP Trustee are made by its Board of seven directors. The directors comprise:

four people nominated by the Group of Unions on behalf of employees;
two people nominated by ESB;
one independent professional trustee director who also acts as Chairperson.

In addition, there is on alternate (substitute) director for the Union directors and one for the Company directors.

David Beattie

Professional Trustee Director and Chairman of ESB ESOP. Consultant with Eversheds O'Donnell Sweeney Solicitors. Appointed to the ESB ESOP Board in December 2001.

Adrian Bannister

Employee Nominated Trustee Director. Project Specialist, Commercial Group, ESB Power Generation. Chartered Engineer. Member of the UNITE Union. Appointed to the ESB ESOP Board in December 2005.

Chris McElhinney

Alternate Company Nominated Trustee Director. Manager ESB Networks Support. Appointed to the ESB ESOP Board in December 2001.

John Nugent

Alternate Employee Nominated Trustee Director. Worker Director on the ESB Board. Former President of the ESB Officers Association and Joint Industrial Council Representative. Appointed to the ESB ESOP Board in December 2005.

Peter O'Sullivan

Employee Nominated Trustee Director. Network Technician, ESB Networks. Member of the UNITE Union. Appointed to the ESB ESOP Board in February 2006.

Tony Merriman

Employee Nominated Trustee Director. Worker Director on the ESB Board. Member of the Services, Industrial, Professional and Technical Union (SIPTU). Appointed to the ESB ESOP Board in March 2006.

Kieran Sweeney

Company Nominated Trustee Director. Corporate Change Manager, ESB. Appointed to the ESB ESOP Board in April 2008.

Geraldine Heavey

Geraldine Heavey Company Nominated Trustee Director. Manager ESB Trading. Appointed to the ESB ESOP Board in December 2009.

Peter Sheehy
